Every type of art at some time ends up in the museum as documentation; the well-known example is the one of the street artist Banksy whose work, together with a chunk of the wall, was taken to a gallery for an auction. We did something else here: we took the work that was already exhibited in the museum and put it in the street. The sculptures at the exhibition “The Art of Persuasion – 170 years of Advertising” represented channels of communication used by advertisers to reach the target group. The great organs of hearing, sight and speech motivated people to start thinking about their bodies and senses. Equally so, we are interested how a specific work functions in a changed context. The mouths were placed exactly opposite the People’s kitchen which could be understood as criticism of the society. The sculptures are installed in Branimirova street in the project initiated by the Museum of street art renewing the old graffiti street in Zagreb.

Art Dizajn
art installation & exhibition design by Studio Rašić
We were invited to do an exhibition of our environmental & exhibition design projects in The Library of Marija Jurić Zagorka. Our projects were exhibited inside while outside we decided to use library windows for an installation that promotes our approach to design that is very much inspired by art. Large hand made letters make a sign that reads DIZAJN (Design), and they are the main part of the typographic art installation, while the second part is the word ART. Using the two terms in our work, we are questioning the relationship of a designer and an artist towards the environment, consumerism, politics, economy, recession, etc. Is the designer also an artist? Where is the boundary between cultural and commercial creativity? Do such creative functions contribute to the economy?
Each letter is a work of art for itself so we putted the title under it:
D – „infomania” (D is made out of CD’s which were really used in our projects)
I – „knowledge” (I is made of books we designed)
Z – „corruption” (Z is made from the police line tape. „USKOK” is a Croatian Anti-corruption & Anti-criminal Organization)
A – „darkness” (A is made out of neon lights)
J – „thirst” (J is made from empty non-recyclable plastic cups)
N – „consumerism” (N is made out of toilet paper)

Monograph An Oasis of Sanctity and Light
Transparent jacket on covers emphasize the theme of sanctity and light, while the choice of photography and the characteristic extended reproduction of ˝centerfold with flaps˝ make this book a new medium which reveals sacral space, created with works of seven prominent Croatian artists (Petar Barišić, Charles Bilich, Josip Botteri Dini, Kuzma Kovačić, Vatroslav Kuliš, Ante Mamuša i Zlatan Vrkljan).

The Art of Persuading
The Art of Persuading
identity and exhibition design
The exhibition “Art of Persuading” (Umjetnost uvjeravanja) elaborated on 170 years of advertising in Croatia. It presented the phenomenon of advertising throughout Croatian history, as well as all of its aspects and communication means. The exhibition questions and values, while it critically observes all aspects of advertising.
Thematically exhibition was divided into 5 sections:
1. Target Groups
2. Methods / Communication Channels
3. Messages / Meanings
4. Media
5. Advertising Politics and Politics of Advertising
Studio Rasic formed a big team in which Marko Rasic and Vedrana Vrabec worked on designing the identity and some parts of exhibition design. Visual identity of the exhibition is made up of concentric circles which were carefully implemented through all kinds of communication materials and exhibition design itself. It symbolizes advertising as an energetic and hypnotic impact on all human senses, as they also mark consumer as a part of a target group (at the same time the creator and a victim).
