Moneterra

Moneterra

Moneterra (zemlja novca) – Muzej novca Hrvatske narodne banke je interaktivni informacijsko-edukacijski centar gdje možete saznati priču o novcu, njegovoj povijesti, upotrebi i ulozi u našim životima.

Sv. Nikola je ujedno i zaštitnik pomoraca, mornara, ribara, putnika i trgovaca te je sakralna simbolika na humorističan način primjenjena u dizajnu vizualnog identiteta projekta. Stalni postav inspiriran je sinergijom suprotnosti (starog i novog), te principom grida (mreže), kojeg koriste podvodni arheolozi kako bi označili bitne podatke o artefaktima (lokaciju, orijentaciju, dubinu i odnos pronađenih artefakata).

Dizajn poziva na avanturu i istraživanje, na doživljaj svijeta podvodne arheologije.

Sands of Đurđevac (Đurđevački pijesci)

Sands of Đurđevac (Đurđevački pijesci)

Multimedia visitor Centre is presenting uniqueness of the desert landscape and its richness of flora and fauna Đurđevački pijesci (“Sands of Đurđevac”). It is protected botanical area with remains of sand dunes which are not common in Croatia. The exhibition is focused on 9 themes, each theme in one room with a total of 33 multimedia exhibits on 550 m2.

Inspired by sand particles, visual identity is designed to present the richness of micro forms that naked eye could never experience. These particles form the symbol, the letter “Đ” which is the initial letter but also unusual letter in other languages. It’s very specific and often used in local language. Simplified silhouettes of sand particles are also very flexible and attractive to use in exhibition graphics, signage and every part of visual identity. Logo “Đ” can be transformed into any required shape or illustration in same visual code.

Every exhibition theme was also accompanied by subtle illustrations inspired by creatures from old local stories.

Gledam Dodirom (Seeing by Touch)

Gledam dodirom (Seeing by Touch)

Seeing by Touch – an exhibition where exhibits can be touched!
Design of the layout and visual identity of an inclusive exhibition

The exhibition is designed in such a way that visitors can tactilely experience the artworks of the visually impaired students attending the Vinko Bek education and rehabilitation centre, created according to a groundbreaking art education method developed by their art teacher Tanja Parlov. In addition to the students’ artworks, visitors can also tactilely examine twenty-four classic works of art by renowned Croatian artists and an attractive spatial installation titled Tuft.

How do blind and partially sighted people create works of art?
How can sighted people experience their world?
How to design an exhibition for blind and partially sighted people?

These are the key issues that guided the concept of the exhibition. Blind and partially sighted people do not paint, sculpt, make reliefs or draw standing up. They create their artworks while sitting down at a table and find it the easiest to work on a flat surface. This is why all the exhibits and their captions, written in the Braille alphabet, were laid out on flat surfaces and made easier to touch.

Dark room
The exhibition begins with a dark room, which offers a simulation of blindness and impaired mobility and spatial orientation to sighted visitors. In the dark, there is a sculpture perceptible only by touch. Sighted visitors are thus placed in a situation commonly experienced by blind and partially sighted people and in this way introduced into their world.

Meander-shaped base with probe lights
The students’ artworks and captions in the Braille alphabet are mounted on an eighty-meter-long, meander-shaped base, positioned along the gallery walls. A special atmosphere is created by the lighting, custom made for this exhibition, consisting of seventy “probe lamps”, each of them illuminating and accentuating an artwork. As the exhibition was produced with a very low budget, the lighting was ingeniously created using cheap water pipes, which were painted black and inserted with LED lamps.

Sculptures that are allowed to be touched
Children’s direct contact with the works of art is an indispensable component of art education. This exhibition is a rarity in that it enables the tactile experience of the works of major 20th century Croatian sculptors: R. Frangeš-Mihanović, Kosta Angeli Radovani, Vanja Radauš, Vojin Bakić, Dušan Džamonja and Branko Ružić. The exhibition layout facilitates easy movements of blind and partially sighted people between the sculptures, while making these sculptures visually appealing. The exhibition closes with the Tuft installation created by the NUMEN group, which offers an extraordinary spatial-tactile experience.

Inclusiveness of the exhibition
Exhibitions for blind and partially sighted people are often mounted with captions laid out at an angle, which makes reading difficult and puts a strain on the wrists. Likewise, hanging artworks on walls is not the best way to present the creations of the blind and partially sighted. This exhibition is therefore designed to enable any blind or partially sighted person to walk through it almost completely unassisted. The artworks are laid down in a sequence on a continuous flat surface, each accompanied with a caption in the Braille alphabet, also laid flat. Sighted visitors wishing to experience the exhibition the way visually impaired people do can walk through it blindfolded.

Orlando – Symbol of Freedom

Orlando – Symbol of Freedom

Design of the visual identity and layout of the exhibition commemorating the 600th anniversary of the installation of the first public sculpture in Dubrovnik – the Orlando Column
Orlando is a symbol of the City of Dubrovnik, signifying freedom, peace and safety. Orlando is a 600-year-old witness. Having seen the birth of the Republic and survived through wars, Orlando observes the joy, tears and laughter of the people of Dubrovnik and its visitors from all over the world, who pass in front of it every day. Orlando is an inspiration.
The exhibition uses modern multimedia to interpret Orlando through history, visual arts, literature and music. More than seventy original exhibits presented at the exhibition are grouped into seven thematic units.

Orlando light installation
The central room hosts a light installation of Orlando, which was made specially for the exhibition, due to the original Orlando Column undergoing restoration and being inaccessible to the public. The spatial installation includes a large map of the historical centre of Dubrovnik, showing the locations of the Orlando Column and the exhibition.

Performance with a Polaroid camera
Visitors are invited to participate in a special performance: photographed by a Polaroid camera in front of the Orlando light installation they become part of the exhibition as the snapshots, once developed, are exhibited on the walls. This is a homage of sorts to the legendary photographer Kaja Đerek, who used to take photos of tourists in front of the Orlando Column.

Through Orlando’s Eyes
Through Orlando’s Eyes is a modern multimedia installation that uses the VR glasses to lead visitors on a virtual tour of seven historical locations in the city of Dubrovnik. For a complete experience, visitors need to climb a podium supporting the VR glasses in order to reach the height of the Orlando Column, while a video projection enables other visitors to observe what is seen through the VR glasses.

Freewa – Free Water Project

Freewa - Free Water Project

Freewa project was entirely created in Studio Rašić+Vrabec and we are also one of the Freewa startup founders. We created core project concept, named it, designed Freewa bottle and bag and also Freewa visual identity. But what we are most proud off is that from something that was primarily considered to be just a touristic souvenir we reinvented to Mobile App and Web for mapping and locating world Free water sources. That’s how the project got its name. Free + Water. And of course, the Freewa mobile app is free and available to everyone

Freewa is completely produced in Croatia.
