Exhibition The Art Pavilion - From Tradition to Contemporaneity

Video and photographic materials, spatial interventions, exhibition documentation, and archival records, as well as fragments of architectural decoration, are used in this exhibition project to tell a fascinating tale in both the historical and contemporary context of the renovation and modernization of the building of the Art Pavilion, an important cultural institution in Zagreb.

The exhibition is divided into two thematic units: 1. Renovation of the building and 2. The vision of the Art Pavilion for the 21^st century. For the first unit, two large murals were drawn in chalk by hand to show the most important blueprint of the building on which the restoration was based. The first thematic unit was made in black and white and a second one was presented in color through different media which showed what the Art Pavilion is today (exhibitions, catalogs, programs). One part was set for visitors to sign on the wall like the old craftsmen’s did during the renovation.
