From Klović and Rembrandt to Warhol and Picelj - 90th anniversary of the National and University Library's graphics collection
About 40 thousand people visited the largest exhibition of graphics in the history of Croatia in a period of just two months. A wealthy collection of graphics from the National and University Library in Zagreb were shown for the first time to the public for its 90th anniversary. The entire exhibition had over 650 exhibits on 1100 m2 in The Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb. The visual framework of the exhibition was a “timeline” on which were presented 650 exhibits shown in chronological order (15th – 20th century). Every period and theme was differentiated by color and ambient with specially designed postaments and art installations. Interactive installation ˝Leave a mark˝ is movement-sensitive, and it presented a contemporary form of a graphic – virtual and temporary. It was placed at the end to leave a mark on visitors. Multiplied handprints also reminded them of the very beginnings of visual expression.
